How do I set up my workflow forwarding inbox?¶
Your forwarding inbox gives you a private email address you can forward documents to — anything you send is picked up, extracted and matched to the right workflow.
Step 1. Go to Workflows and click Open your inbox settings, or open Workflows → Inbox directly.
Step 2. Under Your forwarding address, click Copy. Your personal address looks like u.xxxxxxxx@inbox.myaccountant.com.au — the u. marks it as your personal, account-wide address.
Step 3. Click Send a test email to check the address is reachable. A confirmation shows where the test was sent. Once inbound delivery is active the test message appears in your workflow history — documents always surface in the app for review; myaccountant doesn't email you back.
Personal address vs per-workflow addresses¶
You have one personal address, and some workflows also have their own dedicated address:
- Personal address (
u.…) — works for every workflow you set up. Anything you forward here is matched automatically. For example, a property-manager statement is matched to the right rental property. - Business receipts address (
biz.…) — shown on a Business receipts workflow's setup page. Anything sent here lands straight in that workflow. - Rideshare address (
rs.…) — shown on a Rideshare workflow's setup page. Anything sent here lands straight in that workflow.
Use a workflow's own address when you want the document to go to that exact workflow every time; use your personal address when you're happy for myaccountant to match it for you.
If your address is shared or leaked¶
Your forwarding address is private — anyone who has it can send documents into your account's workflows. If you've shared it by mistake or think it has leaked, rotate it:
Step 1. On the inbox page, click Rotate.
Step 2. Confirm with Rotate address.
The old address stops accepting mail immediately, and anything sent to it after that is marked as failed.
After rotating, update any Gmail or Outlook auto-forwarding filter to use your new address — otherwise your statements will stop coming through.
