How do I manage my clients?¶
Your clients live under Clients in the practice sidebar. You can add and manage clients as soon as your practice is set up — no paid plan is needed for this. Clients can be businesses or individuals; the list shows each client's type, ABN, TFN and status, and is searchable with pagination.
Adding a client¶
There are three ways, from the buttons at the top of the Clients page:
- Add Client — create a brand-new client business. Enter the owner's name and email and the Company Name, then pick the areas the client can use under What can this client use? (Business, Payroll, Property — choose at least one; you can add more later). ABN and TFN are optional (the TFN is stored encrypted and only its last 3 digits are ever shown). Turn on Send login invite to email the owner their login, and if you have team members you can tick who gets access under Assign Team Members.
- Request Access — for a business that's already on myaccountant. Enter the Client Email and an optional message; they approve the request (and choose which of their businesses to share) before you get access.
- Import from ATO — your client list is fetched from the ATO when the panel opens; tick the ones to add and import them. (This needs the right client-directory permission on your ATO access.)
Keeping on top of clients¶
The Practice Dashboard shows a Client Pipeline grouped into Needs Action, Due Soon and On Track, plus a Compliance Health panel — so you can see what needs attention across all clients. Click a client to jump straight into their books.
Working in a client's books¶
Open a client and click Open in client view to switch into their account. When you're done, use Back to Practice to return to your practice workspace. You can also use Send Login to Owner from a client's row menu to email the owner their login.
Billing clients¶
From Settings → Billing you can subscribe a client to a plan under Client Subscriptions — you're billed for it. With an active Accountant Practice plan a 25% accountant discount is applied; without it, client plans are charged at full price. A Billing statement on the same page gives you a consolidated view of client subscriptions billed each month, with a PDF download.
Setting compliance deadlines¶
Under Settings → Compliance you can configure your practice's deadline rules (such as Super Guarantee and STP Finalisation). BAS and IAS deadlines come from the ATO and aren't changed here. Only the practice owner can edit these rules — team members see a read-only view.
Removing a client removes your practice's access to their business and any team-member assignments, but keeps all of their data. If they have a subscription you manage, it's cancelled at the end of the billing period.
