How do I manage client subscriptions and billing?

You can buy and pay for your clients' plans from your practice. Everything lives on Settings → Billing.

Your practice plan

The Practice Plan card shows your own Accountant Practice subscription — the practice it belongs to, the price, and its status. Includes lists what you get:

  • 1 practice company
  • Unlimited features
  • 25% discount on client plans

Use Refresh if you've just changed something and the status looks stale, and Cancel Plan to end it.

Subscribing a client to a plan

Step 1. Scroll to Client Subscriptions — "Subscriptions you manage for your clients (25% discount applied)". Each row shows the Client, their Business, the Plan and its Status.

Step 2. Click Add plan on the client's row.

Step 3. The dialog is titled Add a plan for {client} and confirms which business you're subscribing, with the note: "You will be billed; a 25% accountant discount is applied automatically."

Step 4. Choose a plan. Paid and free tiers are both offered:

  • Business — bookkeeping, BAS lodgement, ATO integrations, bank feeds
  • Business (Free) — core bookkeeping, limited features
  • Payroll — STP lodgement, ATO integrations, up to the employee limit shown
  • Payroll (Free) — single employee, STP lodgement

Step 5. Click Subscribe. Free plans activate immediately; paid plans take you through checkout.

You can also subscribe a client from their own client page — look for the Subscription card.

When the 25% discount applies

The discount is applied automatically at checkout, but only while your Accountant Practice plan is active. If your practice plan has lapsed you can still buy plans for clients — they're just charged at full price. The discount appears on your Stripe invoice, not in the plan prices shown in the app.

Cancelling a client's plan

Use Cancel current plan on the client's row. The plan runs to the end of the billing period and the row shows a Cancelling badge until then. You can subscribe them again later.

Removing a client from your practice also cancels any subscription you manage for them, at the end of the billing period.

Your monthly billing statement

The Billing statement card gives you a consolidated view of the client subscriptions billed in a given month.

Step 1. Pick a month.

Step 2. Click Download PDF. If nothing was billed you'll see "No client subscriptions were billed for {month}."

The statement lists each plan's monthly price. Discounts and part-month proration aren't shown here — those appear on the actual Stripe invoices, which you can reach with Open Billing Portal under Billing History.
