How do I verify an employee's super fund?¶
Before you send super for a new employee, you can check that their fund recognises them as a member. This is called a Member Verification, and it helps avoid contributions being rejected later.
Step 1. Go to Payroll → Employees, open the employee, and select the Superannuation tab. (Make sure the fund's ABN and USI are saved first — see How do I add super fund details for an employee?)
Step 2. Click Verify Super.
Step 3. The status shows Pending Fund Response while the fund replies — they have up to 24 hours. Use Check for response to refresh it.
The result will be one of:
- Verified — the fund recognises the employee. You're good to pay super.
- Verified with Warnings — recognised, but check the notes.
- Verification Failed — the fund couldn't match the employee.
If it fails, the Verification activity timeline below explains what to fix — often the member number, date of birth or name. Correct it on the employee, then verify again. If there's no reply after the 24-hour window, the button becomes Re-send verification.
