How do employees see their payslips and income statement?

myaccountant includes a free employee portal — a self-service login where your employees can see their own payslips, income statement, leave balances and profile, without asking you for copies.

Give an employee access

Step 1. Go to Payroll → Employees, open the employee, and stay on the Overview tab. Find the Portal Access card. (The employee needs an email address saved first — the card will tell you if one is missing.)

Step 2. Click Enable Portal Access.

Step 3. The employee receives an email — "Your employee portal access" — from myaccountant:

  • If they're new to myaccountant, it contains a Set my password link (valid for 24 hours). You're also shown a Temporary Password on screen that you can share with them directly; they must change it on first login.
  • If they already log in to myaccountant (for example, they run their own business on it), the email simply contains a Log in link — no new password needed.

The card then shows Portal Access Enabled with the invite date. From the same card you can later Disable Access or Remove Completely (removing takes away their access to past payslips and records, and can't be undone).

What the employee sees

The employee signs in at the normal myaccountant login page with their own email and password, and lands in the Employee Portal on their payslips. A selector at the top shows their employer — if they work for more than one business on myaccountant, it switches between organisations.

Payslips

The Payslips tab lists every pay they've received — pay period, pay date, gross, tax, super and net pay. The download icon on a row saves that payslip as a PDF, and Download all saves the lot as a single ZIP file.

Income Statement

The Income Statement tab shows their year-to-date figures — Gross YTD, Tax Withheld, Super Entitlement, Deductions and Net Pay — plus a Payment Types Breakdown. Once there's more than one financial year, a selector switches between them, and Download (PDF) saves the statement for the year shown.

Below that, the History section lists each financial year with its status — Finalised, Not finalised, Amended or Amendment pending. Expanding a finalised year shows exactly what was Reported to the ATO for them (gross, tax withheld, super, deductions), the payment breakdown, and the list of ATO submissions made for that year.

Leave and Profile

  • Leave shows their current Annual Leave and Personal / Carer's Leave balances and leave history.
  • Profile lets them view and update their own contact details, bank account, super fund details and emergency contact.

Employees only ever see their own pay information — the portal gives no access to your business's payroll, books or other employees.
