How do I switch Caia on for my business?¶
Caia is sold as its own plan. You switch it on for each business from Settings → Billing. The business owner, a team member with billing access, or an accountant who acts for the business can switch Caia on.
Choose the Caia plan¶
Step 1. Go to Settings → Billing.
Step 2. In Add a Plan, find Caia and complete the checkout. The price is shown on the plan before you pay.
Switch on the business¶
Step 3. Still on Settings → Billing, find the Caia section and turn on the switch beside the business. If the switch is locked, the note beside the business says why: Caia plan needed means you still need the plan, Needs an owner means the business has no owner yet, and Only the business owner can change this means someone else must make the change.
Step 4. The dialog Caia keeps your books from asks for a Start date. Caia fills this in for you:
- the business's books start date, if one is already set, or
- a suggested date, based on the business's current BAS period.
Step 5. Check the date and click Switch Caia on.
Choosing the start date¶
- Use the 1st of a month. The books can only start on the first day of a month.
- Caia sorts bank lines from this date on. Lines dated before it are not sorted. They are listed for you to check. See What happens to bank lines from before Caia was switched on?
- Some dates are refused. You cannot choose a date on or before the date your books are locked up to, or a date inside a BAS period that has already been lodged.
- Opening balances come first. If you have entered opening balances, clear them before you change the start date.
After you switch on¶
- Caia runs each morning from about 6am (Sydney time). A business switched on after that time gets a run the same day.
- Caia then asks you a few questions about the business. See How do I set up Caia's business profile?
