How do I switch Caia off?

Step 1. Go to Settings → Billing, and find the Caia section.

Step 2. Turn off the switch beside the business. Caia does not ask for a date when you switch it off.

Only the business owner, a team member with billing access, or an accountant who acts for the business can switch Caia off.

What happens when Caia is off

  • Caia stops sorting new bank lines for that business, and stops its daily run.
  • Work Caia has already done stays in your books.
  • You can still select Looks right and Undo on work Caia has already done, on the Caia page.
  • You cannot Change a group, or answer a Needs you group, on the Caia page. Sort those lines on the Bank page.
  • Lines still under Needs you in a BAS period block lodging, until they are sorted. See How do I review Caia's work before lodging my BAS?

Caia paused for an overdue payment

If the Caia payment is overdue, Caia pauses by itself. The Caia page then says Caia is paused because payment is overdue. A paused business is treated like one where Caia is off: new lines are not sorted, and Needs you lines are sorted on the Bank page.

Switching Caia back on

Switching Caia back on asks for the Start date again. The date already on the business profile is filled in for you. See How do I switch Caia on for my business?

What an accountant sees for a client

  • An accountant working in a client's books sees the Caia page for that client. If Caia is not on, the page says Ask the business owner to switch Caia on, or manage it from the client's billing. Caia purchase buttons are not shown in client view.
  • An accountant with an active link to the client can switch Caia on or off for the client's business from the client's row in Settings → Billing.
  • Only the business owner can turn on the daily summary email. See What does Caia do each day?
  • An accountant working in the client's books can approve a GST estimate. See How do I set up Caia's business profile?
  • Caia lines that need attention can appear on the practice dashboard. Selecting one opens that client's Caia page.
