Payment reference number (PRN)¶
Definition. A payment reference number (PRN) is a unique reference that ties a super payment to the right record so the fund can allocate the money to the correct member's account.
In plain English¶
When you pay super, the ATO explains that a PRN links your payment to the details of who it is for. The super fund uses the PRN to match the payment and put the money into the right account. If the PRN is wrong or does not match, the payment cannot be allocated properly and can be delayed.
