Taxpayer declaration

Definition. The taxpayer declaration is the statement you (or your authorised agent) make when lodging an Activity Statement — that the information provided is true and correct and that you are authorised to make the declaration.

In plain English

Before your Activity Statement is sent to the ATO, you confirm that the figures on it are true and correct. It is your way of standing behind the numbers. If a registered agent lodges for you, the ATO says you first have to give them a written statement that the information is true and correct and that you have authorised them to lodge it.
