Tax invoice¶
Definition. A tax invoice is a document that meets the ATO's requirements and is needed to claim a GST credit on a purchase that costs more than $82.50 (including GST).
In plain English¶
When you buy something for your business and want to claim back the GST, you usually need a proper tax invoice from the seller. To count, it has to show certain details, such as who sold it, their ABN, the date, what you bought and the GST amount. For purchases over $82.50 including GST, you must hold a valid tax invoice before you claim the GST credit.
