Instalment Activity Statement (IAS)¶
Definition. An Instalment Activity Statement (IAS) is a simpler statement for reporting and paying some taxes, such as PAYG withholding or PAYG instalments, when a business is not registered for GST or needs to report PAYG monthly between its quarterly BAS.
In plain English¶
The IAS is a shorter version of the BAS. You use it when you have amounts to report to the ATO but no GST to include, either because your business is not registered for GST, or because you report PAYG each month while your GST BAS is only every quarter. It works the same way as a BAS, just with fewer boxes.
